Buddy Merrick is well-known as a patriot, singer, recording artist, businessman and minister.

He is Vice President and General Manager of WJAL-TV, a Warner Brothers affiliate, which serves Pennsylvania, Maryland, and the Virginias, and an original member of the Board of Advisors of the new Warner Brothers Television Network.

Military

Lieutenant Colonel Merrick retired from the military in 1995 after a sterling career that began in 1960 as a Navy Seaman. Through those years, he served as an aviator with both the U.S. Army and Navy during the Cuban Quarantine and the Vietnam era and later taught Company Commanders who fought in Desert Storm. Lt.

Colonel Merrick received the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the National Defense Medal with Bronze Star, a Presidential Unit Citation and 17 other awards and decorations.

He's the namesake of Maj. Gen. Solomon Meredith, commander of the famous Iron Brigade at Gettysburg, and Brig. Gen. Meredith Samuel, the Surgeon General of World War I, so Buddy's interest in American History runs deep. He's a graduate of Union College, Wayland Baptist University, the U. S. Naval Flight School and the U. S. Army Command & General Staff College.
As a concert and recording artist, Buddy's performed in thousands of churches. A born-again Christian, ordained minister, former pastor and accomplished songwriter, he received the Award of Merit from Word Records in 1983 after recording the first of his five albums, "He 's Alive!"on that label. His song, "Welcome Back Home." was written with gospel songwriter Bill Gaither and was featured on Armed Forces Radio during the Persian Gulf War.

His most popular composition, "Jesus is...,"charted on the Singing News charts and is still enjoying hit status on radio stations across America. His latest works include the song, "Mama Cried," co-written with country star Daron Norwood. Buddy's also an accomplished actor, having appeared in several movies, including "Blood And Orchids " with Jose Ferrar and Kris Kristofferson, television specials, radio, and of course, on records and in concert for about fifteen years.
