Perhaps the reward of the spirit who tries is not the goal but the exercise. -- E. V. Cooke

Somehow, I did not see snow fall until I was 21 and had moved to Illinois. My early life in California did not include snow or snow sports. You could count on one hand the number of times I went to the Sierras during that time.

Then I moved to Illinois and there was no lack of snow but it was all flat. Once again I did not get into skiing.

When I moved to Washington the company I worked for had a ski bus that left work at 3:00 on Wednesdays. You were on the slopes by 5:00 and could ski under the lights until 10:00. We were back by midnight. I was on my way to enjoying skiing (at 40).

Now I am back to where I started but bitten by the skiing bug. I am not skiing every Wednesday night but I do get to the Sierras and enjoy myself. The skiing picture is at the top of Squaw Valley overlooking Lake Tahoe.
