"Arabian Proverb"

A friend is someone
to whom you can pour out
all the contents of your heart,
chaff and grain together...
knowing that the gentlest of
hands will take and sift it -
keep what is worth keeping
and with a breath of kindness -
blow the rest away.

"Choices"

Each and every one of us plays a
VITAL role

We are ALL important
Each contribution is essential
to the success of the WHOLE
Today

Every single person you touch
is deeply effected by your presence.
Every single moment of your life...
you are faced with a choice
Irregardless of your station in life
Irregardless of your status
Irregardless of your circumstances
or
your limitations

YOU affect every person that surrounds you!
Consider your choices carefully
for they will effect many
Is your choice today to uplift the human spirit
or

Do you choose to crush it into the ground?
Do you choose to boost moral
or

Is your choice to disrupt it?
Will you inspire self-confidence and pride
or

Choose to tear it into little bitsy pieces?
What WILL you contribute today?
Consider your choice carefully
for once it has been executed
you can not turn back the clock!

"Defeat? Possible. Quit? Never again!"

Lord, make me an instrument
of your peace;
Where there is hatred,
let me sow LOVE;
Where there is injury,
let me sow PARDON;
Where there is doubt,
let me sow FAITH;
Where there is despair,
let me sow HOPE;
Where there is darkness,
let me sow LIGHT;
Where there is sadness,
let me sow JOY

For I shall pass through this world but once. Any good that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

I will take every risk, embracing every opportunity that may provide a better life for me and my family.

I KNOW what I can do and I KNOW how little I have done. I can still shape a future of success and happiness! I am capable of great wonders - I have new faith. I was not created to fail.

Defeat? Possible.

Quit? Never again!

"A Beautiful Thought"

My Wish

If I could,
I would give you my eyes
just for a moment
to see you as I do.
Then maybe, finally...
you would see
for yourself...
this beautiful person
who matters so much....
to all who have the privilege
of sharing your life.

"True Worth"

The toughest most expensive
machinery in the World
will quickly shut down and become inoperative...
if not given the proper
care and respect.
It is even more so with the
intricate workings of the
human machine...
Ignore it...
Mis-use or abuse it...
Refuse to take proper care of it...
treat it with disrespect...
-- and --
it will
quickly
disappear!
It is sad to think that there are those...
who must first experience the lose of
something or someone
before they recognize it for its true
value and worth...

Steps To Happiness

Everybody Knows:

You can't be all things to all people.
You can't do all things at once.
You can't do all things equally well.
You can't do all things better than everyone else.
Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's.

So:

You have to find out who you are, and be that.
You have to decide what comes first, and do that.
You have to discover your strengths, and use them.
You have to learn not to compete with others,
Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*.

Then:

You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness.
You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions.
You will have learned to live with your limitations.
You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due.
And you'll be a most vital mortal.

Dare to Believe:

That you are a wonderful, unique person.
That you are a once in-all-history event.
That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are.
That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish.
And you'll be able to stay one up on what used to get you down.

Christmas...

Does Christmas still exist in your heart?

I wonder...

Do you lovingly prepare for the holiday season?
--- or ---
Does it rush up on you and create a panic to "produce"?

Do you look forward to the moments spent with your loved ones?
--- or ---
Does the financial stress to buy, buy, buy ... make you wish it was all over?

Is it a time of JOY, PEACE, HARMONY and LOVE?
--- or ---
Has it become "just another holiday that must be ENDURED"?

Do you enjoy the time spent sharing with friends and family?
--- or ---
Do you find yourself trying to think of excuses not to go?

Perhaps - this year -
we will focus on getting back the "SPIRIT" of this awesome holiday
Perhaps - this year -
we will just "Be Together" and forget the "Production"
Perhaps - this year -
we will donate time to help a family who needs help
Perhaps - this year -
we can find the JOY, PEACE, HARMONY and LOVE
that this season truly represents
Perhaps....Maybe....Just Maybe
Anything is POSSIBLE...

Bev's Story

If I could write a story
I'd write a happy one -
Of love, laughter and sunshine
of sadness none.

It wouldn't speak of heartaches
Or unhappy things -
It would tell of sunsets. Icecream,
And the joy a flower brings.

You see - ants can carry breadcrumbs
Across the warm cement
And birds can land on branches
Even though they are bent.

Quail can puff their bodies
And make a laughing sound
Fifteen little ones following
Going homeward bound.

Raccoons will eat the cat food
Until it is all gone.
Small mouth surface on the lake
In the early dawn.

Coyotes in the distance
Yepping at the moon
Deer on the skyline
Listening to their tune.

Sunrises couldn't be prettier
Peeking over the hill
I sit back and watch them
Wonderful is how I feel.

The lake is very tranquil
It seems to warm each thought
With peace of mind and contentment
Things that can't be bought.

It took me a long time to get here
To have this peace within
To look at the good in each new day
Not to worry about where I've been.

For life is truly a privilege
A journey I embrace
Not to be taken for granted
Not to leave without a trace.

May we all enjoy every moment
And look at the good that it brings
Spread our wings like a beautiful butterfly
Let go of our voices and sing.

A Special Friend

Sometimes in life,
we all find a special friend;
Someone who changes our
life just by being part of it.
Someone who makes us laugh
until we can't stop;
Someone who makes us believe
that there really is good in the world.
Someone who convinces us
that there really is an unlocked door
just waiting for us to open it.
This is Forever Friendship.

When we are down,
and the world seems dark and empty,
our forever friend lifts us up in spirit
and makes that dark and empty world
suddenly seem bright and full.
Our forever friend gets us through
the hard times, the sad times,
and the confused times.
If we turn and walk away,
our forever friend follows.
If we get lost in the dark,
our forever friend finds us to cheer us up.

Our forever friend holds our hand
and tells us that
everything is going to be okay.
And if we find such a friend,
we feel happy and complete,
because we need not worry.
U have a forever friend in me,
i have a forever friend in U,
we have a forever friend in each other
because our friendhsip
will last forever
and forever has no end.

Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask "How are you?"
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done,
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time
To call and say "Hi"?
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

I Am A Beautiful Old Person!

IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME,
JUST READ THIS.
Many people will walk in and out of your life,
But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.
To handle yourself, use your head;
To handle others, use your heart.
Anger is only one letter short of danger.
If someone betrays you once, it is his fault;
If he betrays you twice, it is your fault.
Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.
He who loses money, loses much;
He who loses a friend, loses much more;
He who loses faith, loses all
Beautiful young people are accidents of nature,
But beautiful old people are works of art.
Learn from the mistakes of others.
You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.
Friends, you and me....
You brought another friend....
And then there were 3....
We started our group....
Our circle of friends....
And like that circle....
There is no beginning or end....
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is mystery.
Today is a gift.

The Invitation

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare
to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know
if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream,
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon.
I want to know if you have touched the center of your own
sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have
become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own,
without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine your own,
if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy
fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us
to be careful, be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true.
I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to
yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and
not betray your own soul; if you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty,
every day, and if you can source your own life from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine,
and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full
moon, "Yes!"
It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair,
weary and bruised to the bone,
and do what needs to be done to feed the children.
It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not
shrink back.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

hearts

If I knew it would be the last time...

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute or two
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything right.
There will always be another day
to say our "I love you's,"

And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do's?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?

For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry," "Please forgive me,"
"Thank you," or "It's okay."

And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.
Send this to all that you consider a friend.
Just to let them know how much you care about them.
You never know, you may not see them tomorrow.

So let them know how much they mean to you.

I've learned

I've learned-
that you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.

I've learned-
that it's taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.

I've learned-
that you should always leave loved ones
with loving words. It may be the last
time you see them.

I've learned-
that you can keep going
long after you can't.

I've learned-
that we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.

I've learned-
that either you control your attitude
or it controls you.

I've learned-
that regardless of how hot and
steamy a relationship is at first,
the passion fades and there had
better be something else to take
its place.

I've learned-
that heroes are the people
who do what has to be done
when it needs to be done,
regardless of the consequences.

I've learned-
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I've learned-
that my best friend and I can do anything
or nothing and have the best time.

I've learned-
that sometimes the people you expect
to kick you when you're down,
will be the ones to help you get back up.

I've learned-
that sometimes when I'm angry
I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me
the right to be cruel.

I've learned-
that true friendship continues to grow,
even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I've learned-
that just because someone doesn't love
you the way you want them to doesn't
mean they don't love you with all they have.

I've learned-
that maturity has more to do with
what types of experiences you've had
and what you've learned from them
and less to do with how many
birthdays you've celebrated.

I've learned-
that no matter how good a friend is,
they're going to hurt you every
once in a while and you must forgive
them for that.

I've learned-
that it isn't always enough to be
forgiven by others. Sometimes you
have to learn to forgive yourself.

I've learned-
that no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I've learned-
that our background and circumstances
may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.

I've learned-
that just because two people argue,
it doesn't mean they don't love each other
And just because they don't argue,
it doesn't mean they do.

I've learned-
that we don't have to change friends
if we understand that friends change.

I've learned-
that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret.
It could change your life forever.

I've learned-
that two people can look at the exact same thing
and see something totally different.

I've learned-
that your life can be changed in a matter of hours
by people who don't even know you.

I've learned-
that even when you think you have no more
to give, when a friend cries out to you,
you will find the strength to help.

I've learned-
that credentials on the wall
do not make you a decent human being.

I've learned-
that the people you care about most in life
are taken from you too soon.
